職場英文：手上滿了的時候，怎麼說比 I’m busy 清楚

單元一｜先把工作量講出來
新任務進來時，第一件事是講清楚手上現在有什麼。bandwidth 指你還剩多少時間與心力，是美式職場口語最常用來講這件事的字。

on my plate 指手上已經有的工作，plate 前面固定用 on，說 I have three deadlines on my plate this week。
跟主管或請託的同事這樣說

單元二｜請主管排順序
把新任務和手上的舊任務放在一起，請對方決定先做哪一個，動詞用 prioritize。
trade-off 是取捨。接了新的，舊的就會往後延，把這個交換講出來，讓主管決定要哪一個。

單元三｜把期限往後挪
push back 後面接期限，就是把期限往後挪。
extension 是延期，動詞搭配 ask for，說 ask for a two-day extension。
turnaround 是完成一件事需要的時間，說 a 48-hour turnaround。
改期這樣說

| I’d like to ask for a two-day extension. | 我想申請延兩天。 |
| This report normally takes a 48-hour turnaround. | 這份報告通常要兩天才做得完。 |

用法提醒｜push back 和 push back on
push back the deadline ＝ 把期限往後挪，講的是時間。
push back on the request ＝ 對這個要求表達不同意，講的是立場。
受詞決定意思：後面直接接時間就是改期，接 on ＋ 人或事就是反對。

單元四｜真的要退回
take on 是承接新任務，說 I can’t take on another project this month。
decline 偏正式，用在寫給不熟的窗口的 email。美式口語在會議或 Teams 訊息上更常用 pass。
退回這樣說

| I’m going to have to pass on this one. | 這件我得婉拒（口頭）。 |
| We’ll have to decline this request for now. | 這個需求我們目前無法承接（書面）。 |

單元五｜給一個做得到的時間
realistically 放在句首，先講實際情況，再給一個做得到的時間點。
收尾這樣說

| I can start on it Thursday at the earliest. | 我最快週四可以開始。 |
| I can give you a rough draft now and the full version next week. | 我可以先給草稿，完整版下週給。 |
