The cultural difference: Do you sleep with your babies?

Do you sleep with your babies in the same room, or do you sleep apart from your babies?

Parents in the US and UK tend to have their babies sleep in their own rooms after the first six months. Encouraging early independence is consistent with the typical Western cultural focus on individualism. However, in most other societies around the world, babies stick with their parents longer.

Recent research showed that in Sri Lanka and Vietnam, more than 80% of parents tend to share a room, and sometimes a bed, with their babies. They believe that bed-sharing keeps infants close and calms them down during the night.
