It might not be a good idea to bring your pets to the mountains these days. A dead ferret badger was found recently in the Tataka area of Yushan National Park. Its carcass tested positive for rabies.
As a result, the headquarters of the park announced that, as a preventive measure to avoid a possible rabies outbreak, visitors may no longer bring their pets to Yushan National Park.
Meanwhile, experts advise visitors to stay away from wild animals and immediately leave if you encounter any animals that seem agitated. To protect against rabies, they also suggest that owners of cats, dogs, and other carnivorous animals bring their pets to get their vaccination every year.
rabies (n.)
Rabies scares sometimes lead to irrational culling of animals.
