“Distracted walking” is the most common cause of fall injuries in the Taipei Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) system, according to Taipei Rapid Transit Corp. (TRTC).
In all, 143 fall injury cases reported occurred at MRT stations or trains in the first eight months of the year. Among these cases, 73 commuters were injured in falls on MRT premises while looking at their phones.
Therefore, TRTC urged passengers to look up from their digital device screens and pay more attention to the surroundings while walking for their own and others’ safety. It has put up posters in many stations, broadcast on monitors, and used public announcements to lift spatial awareness.
Phubbing while eating is not allowed in my family.
