The Arc de Triomphe in Paris was wrapped in fabric

The Arc de Triomphe in Paris was covered in fabric as a tribute to the late artists Christo and Jeanne-Claude. The massive monument was covered in 25,000 square meters of silver-blue colored fabric, along with 3,000 meters of red rope. The installation remained in place for 16 days.

The two artists were a couple who lived in Paris. They began transforming public spaces into their works of art in 1961. Christo became fascinated by the Arc de Triomphe when he lived near the monument. Before he died in 2020, he asked that the project be completed posthumously.

To have the fabric installed, workers had to install scaffolding and brackets around the top of the Arc de Triomphe, from which the fabric was unfurled and guided to the bottom.
